How to fight acne?
Acne
Acne is probably one of the most common skin diseases and affects between 85 to 100% of the population at different stages of life. Despite being a more common complaint in adolescence, it can also occur in other age groups and can be caused by several factors.
Acne is nothing less than an inflammation of the pilosebaceous follicles due to excess of fat or dead skin cells, which favors the proliferation of bacteria and, consequently, the appearance of blackheads and pimples. The most affected areas of our body are the areas where there is a greater concentration of sebaceous follicles: face, neck, chest, back and shoulders.
Treatment for acne varies according to its characteristics, associated causes and degree of inflammation:
1. Comedonal acne – more common form of acne characterized by non-inflammatory and generally non-scarring lesions;
2. Vulgaris and Moderate papular-pustular acne – appearance of pimples, with or without pus (papules and pustules), accompanied by blackheads and pimples.
3. Severe papular-pustular acne, moderate nodular acne – Significant inflammation of the skin, with multiple papules and pustules that can lead to scarring, especially if the pimples are squeezed. In this type of moderate nodular acne, some nodules are seen, usually with more less >1 cm in diameter and which also can be painful.
Acne conglobata – Acne conglobata is a severe form of nodular acne that occurs mainly in young males and in which large lesions (nodules and cysts) can appear, with spontaneous drainage of pus, as well as fistulas (connections between two nodules) and significant scars.
Symptoms
- Oily skin;
- Non-inflammatory lesions characterized by open and closed comedones;
- Inflammatory lesions characterized by papules, more prominent, red and given the presence of infection in the follicle, can cause pain;
- In more severe cases, pustules, nodules and cysts can appear and lead to permanent scarring;
Causes
There are factors that can aggravate acne, such as:
- Hormonal changes during pregnancy or related to the use of contraceptive methods;
- Imbalance of estrogen and progesterone;
- Some medications (corticosteroids, androgens, lithium);
- Foods rich in carbohydrates, which increase blood sugar levels;
- Consumption of dairy products;
- Skin contact with oily substances or some inappropriate cosmetic products (makeup);
- Excessive cleaning of the skin with inappropriate products;
- Stress – as an aggravating factor for this skin disease;
How to fight acne?
If not treated properly and previously, acne can lead to unsightly scars that can be very difficult to treat. Acne treatment is based on reducing the production of fat, accelerating the renewal of skin cells and in the controll and reduce of the infection of the follicle.
Prevention techniques
- Wash the most susceptible areas with warm water and a mild solution that helps to control acne;
- Moisturize the skin very well every day in the morning and clean always the skin before bed;

- Never squeeze the skin lesions to prevent scarring or their own infection;
- Avoid direct sun exposure;
- Avoid environments with a lot of smoke;
- Maintain a balanced and healthy diet;
- Increase the consumption of greens;
- Sleep at least 7 to 8 hours a night;
Tea Tree Oil
Due to its numerous antibacterial properties, tea tree oil is an excellent antifungal and antiseptic that helps to cleanse and regenerate the skin.
Place a small drop on the tip of your finger and place it on top of the affected area. Perform this procedure twice a day.
Before applying the oil, thoroughly disinfect your hands.
