HISTAMINE – Have you heard about it?
Histamine is produced by our body, but it is also present in some foods, which should not be part of the diet of patients suffering from conditions such as asthma, dermatitis, sinusitis, allergic rhinitis or eczema, amongst others.
Whatever the cause of our pain, malaise or discomfort is, first of all we need to understand it. We can all suffer from the same conditions, but we have different organisms and our bodies have different reactions to foods.
Diet is undoubtedly the foundation of everything and we can all improve the way in which we eat in order to avoid subjecting our body to things that are not good for it.
Histamine is produced by our body in allergic processes, but it is also present in some food products. Artificial food colours, particularly tartrazine, and preservatives, such as methyl benzoate, benzoic acid, sodium benzoate, butylhydroxyanisole or BHA, and butylated hydroxytoluene or BHT, are some of the chemicals that are present in food products which increase the amount of histamine in their composition and should be removed from your diet in case of asthma, dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis or eczema, amongst other conditions.
It is important to reinforce that, even if you remove these food products from your diet, a professional follow-up is essential to ensure your safety and short-term results.
